Who Are Team RobotZilla?

We are team RobotZilla and we are a colaborative group who strive to teach, learn and become the best at what we do. The RobotZilla team is made up of 4 unique individuals who each play a role in the group and we have all worked our hardest to get to where we are now with help of the our mentors and founders of this team, Nicole and Kenith. The RobotZilla program is a weekly class that teached children of all ages how to code and improve our STEM knowlage.

The Team Members

Oliver, Seth, Logan and Justin are the team members of RobotZilla. We all met from joining the RobotZilla program and we have made stronger relation ships while working on the FLL project.

The Core Values

Our team respects the core values and all are equally respected and have are role in the team. We work as a team to overcome challenges and work together to solve problems. We find that if we don't agree on something, we like to put our ideas together and work on that and use our creativity to improve ideas. We work together and that lets us get more things done and get things done better.

Our Innovation Project

What is Renewable Energy?

Renewable energy comes from eco-friendly sources like the wind and water. This energy is produced through natural resources that gets replaced and never runs out.

The Benifits of Renewable Energy

The benefits of renewable energy allows energy providers to reduce carbon emissions from fossil fuels extracting. Renewable energy also never depletes, unlike fossil fuels, which are a limited resource. Renewable energy is the key to hitting net zero emissions by 2050.

The Problem of Renewable Energy

Renewable energy is very inconvenient as it is highly inconsistent. Renewable energy has to have certain variables to work and if they aren't right, it won’t work. Wind turbines sometimes have a lack of wind. Solar panels lack energy at night and on cloudy days too.

The Solution and Invention...

We wanted to create an easy and renewable source of energy that can help people so our innovation project is a turbine which is installed in pipes. This turbine is a lot like ones in hydroelectric dams but much more renewable. This is because The turbine is installed inside the pipe and any wastewater that pushes on it produces kinetic energy. This kinetic energy is transferred to power cells that run the electricity to the fuse box. People can manually control the energy through the fuse box to use it.

How Will We Make This Happen?

The Cost...

We have researched and come to the conclusion that small turbune blades that could be used for this idea would be very cheap and affordable for something that will produce electricity. They cost any were from $4 to $30 but an even cheaper alternative is to 3D print out turbines. It is very cheap to 3D print and will be easy as they are strong and durable.
We asked a proffesional who told us that this idea is very good as it will work and be an effective way to produse house hold energy. He also told us that it would be very easy to execute and simple to install the turbines into pipes.

The Efficient way to Keep the Energy...

Many people have solar panels now, so if people also want this in their homes, we can connect the energy produced to the same place the solar energy is stored. This will make everything more easy because you wouldn't have to create a new battery bank and would just have to redirect the energy to the solar storage and build the energy up together.

The Future of this Invention...

The Use of this in our Everyday Lives

Every time a person turns on the water and it flows in the drains, the fan installed in the pipe begins to spin which produces kinetic energy which gets sent to the fuse box. This allows people to save money on electrical bills through very renewable, effective and consistent source.

How will this Affect the Future?

Our innovation project will affect the future by reducing costs and resources of electricity. This renewable source of energy reduces the need for increased amounts of fossil fuels.

Next Steps...

Installing these into homes can provide small amounts of energy but it you install these into every sink or drain, it will add up when you just do your daily routine. Governments could install bigger or more of these turbines in public drains that create more local energy for people to share.
